NEOTECH INCUBATOR

The NeoTech Incubator was created to establish an environment where small companies, start-ups and first-time entrepreneurs could grow, prosper and create jobs in Howard County. Through its Systematic Entrepreneurship program, new business owners are provided with the specialized infrastructure, guidance and networking contacts necessary to launch and realize their vision, resulting in the accelerated formation of profitable, sustainable technology-based companies. NeoTech Incubator clients can also increase their probability of success by complementing their technical expertise with the experience, mentoring and counseling from full-time and volunteer business professionals.

The NeoTech Incubator opened on May 24, 2000 with four tenant companies. Now in its sixth year of operation, the facility houses 20 resident companies; along with 14 graduate companies, it provides employment to more than 200 people. The NeoTech Incubator’s programs are esteemed: it is the only incubator in the country to receive three awards for innovative incubation practices by the National Business Incubation Association.

Power of Angel Investing
Designed to provide a comprehensive overview of angel investing for private investors with limited or no angel investment experience. The seminar is offered in a “protected environment”, without solicitations from service providers and entrepreneurs looking for angel financing. In order to provide adequate opportunities for interacting with the experts and other participants, registration will be limited to 25 individuals. This is a Kauffman Foundation educational seminar. Angels and Eggs
Interaction opportunity for Maryland incubator companies and angel investors. Winner of the NBIA 2003 International Innovation Award---an award that honors an innovative program that goes beyond the normal incubation services.

NeoTech Incubator Prep
A program for the entrepreneur who has a viable idea but does not have the essential business plan nor a presentation to submit an application to the incubator. With the assistance of staff and business counselors, the requirements are met. Once approved, the company's status is changed to full incubator company.

The NeoTech Incubator Advantage

Business Development
NeoTech Incubator client companies can take advantage of the in-house business expertise--SCORE, SBDC and JREF. Outside professionals are available on a scheduled basis. Access to these services provides an advantage that start-up companies outside of the incubator setting often lack.

Community Atmosphere
All client companies are early stage, high technology start-up operations. Your "neighbor" is a firm facing similar challenges during the formation and growth of the business. This produces a "community" atmosphere. Our "community" atmosphere facilitates a cooperative spirit with many examples of companies working together to solve problems and discuss business strategy. This collaboration ranges from incorporation of one company's product into another's product to using each other's expertise to help solve technical problems.

Ability to Focus
Residence at NeoTech Incubator allows companies to focus on developing products, finding customers, and growing their business. NeoTech Incubator offers clients a full-time facilities manager to handle the facility and infrastructure needs. A full-time receptionist is on hand to greet visitors, handle the mail and assign conference rooms. In that facility issues are handled by NeoTech Incubator staff, a company's human resources can be better spent on growing their business.
