Social Media for Business

The Howard Technology Council is hosting a panel discussion regarding Social Media for Business at its monthly seminar on Wednesday, April 21, 2010, 8:30 - 10:00 a.m. at The Center for Business and Technology Development, 9250 Bendix Road, North, Columbia, MD 21045.

Social Media is the buzz right now and everyone you talk to seems to be into Twittering and/or using Facebook and Linkedin.  With all of the valuable time invested into keeping these new forms of communication up-to-date, how do we determine whether it is worth it or not from a business standpoint?

There is no doubt that it can be fun to connect with friends and colleagues, or tell everyone about a new business project we just landed, but how does that generate business?  Are we, as business people, focusing our efforts in the right areas or even using the best channels to communicate about our businesses?

An expert panel will discuss these questions and more as they cover the current state of Social Media for Business, the technologies and tactics to most effectively leverage this form of communication, and how to determine if results support contunued investment in these intiatives.

The panel moderator is Jim Kehres, Vice President, Tier One Technology Partners and Howard Technology Council Advisory Board member.

Panelists include:

  • Ilana Bittner, Pixel Workshop
  • Anne Sigman, Vision Multimedia Corporation
  • Chris Mechanic, WebMechanix
