Two staff members from the Howard County Economic Development Authority’s Maryland Center for Entrepreneurship have received the Advocate/Supporter award for SCORE, Counsellors to America’s Small Businesses. Rita Anderson and Deborah Leake were this year’s winning nominations for demonstrating consistent and outstanding leadership to the Howard County community through their invaluable support to clients.

SCORE is a partner of the U.S Small Business Administration (SBA) and has assisted more than 10 million entrepreneurs through many different methods, such as mentorship and workshops. SCORE maintains office hours at the Maryland Center for Entrepreneurship where they counsel approximately 25 budding entrepreneurs with business strategy and mentoring each month.

“Rita and Deborah have been an incredible asset for the Howard County Economic Development Authority” said CEO Larry Twele. “They have showed outstanding dedication to the business community of Howard County, and passion for helping our future business leaders. We are extremely proud to have them as part of our team.”

The ceremony was held on September 28th at 11:00am at the Radisson in Baltimore.

“We have an incredible workforce, dedicated to serving our residents,” said Howard County Executive Allan H. Kittleman. “We value their contributions to the Maryland Center for Entrepreneurship and are fortunate to have them working with us.”
