The Howard County Film Feastival is all new with some great additions and changes. It will still include farmers, food and film while adding artisans (food and craft), music and food trucks to this year’s events. This year’s event will be held on Tuesday, July 25th from 4:30 pm until 8:30 pm at Clark’s Elioak Farm in Ellicott City, MD.
Food plays an integral part of Film Feastival as this is a kickoff event for Howard County Summer Restaurant Weeks. This year we will not just have restaurants selling samples of their food but also food trucks! It is a great opportunity to taste all the flavors of Howard County.
Farmers’ of Howard County will be available so that you may purchase locally grown fresh and flavorful products from our own farms. July is the peak of the season for our farms and the bounty will be plentiful! July is also the Buy Local challenge and come participate by buying from these wonderful Howard County Farmers.
The film for this year’s event is “Forgotten Farms.” It is the real-life story of New England Dairy Farms and talks about the challenges they face with today’s dairy industry. These same challenges are what our Howard County family owned dairies face each day and the struggle they must continue the family farm. It is a must-see film. In between the two showings there will be a panel discussion of the film. This year there will be a $5 charge for each seating of the film. There will be two showings, one at 5:00 pm and one at 7:00 pm. Seating is limited, so register early. Money raised from the viewing of the film will be donated to the Howard County Farm-City Scholarship Fund.
Another addition to this year’s Feastival will be artisans! It is always amazing to see the beautiful work of our Howard County artists and crafters. Their works will have you in awe and ready to purchase. Also with the artisan’s there will be local food artisans, come and see and sample what is being made by our local food artisans.
All this while you get the opportunity to explore the petting farm and enchanted forest at Clark’s Elioak Farm. The Howard County Film Feastival is a joint program of Clark’s Elioak Farm, Howard County Office of Tourism and Promotion, Howard County Economic Development Authority and University of Maryland Extension-Howard County.
