HCEDA and Howard County Executive Celebrate the Expansion of Restorative Counseling and Wellness Center

Wednesday, December 8, 2021

County Executive Calvin Ball and HCEDA joined Restorative Counseling and Wellness Center’s (RCWC) ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the expansion of their new facility in Ellicott City and five-year business anniversary. RCWC Founders, Nicole DeChirico, LCSW-C and Dionne Jimenez, LCPC, are Howard County Natives who have worked in the mental health industry for several years. During their experience, they discovered there was a gap in connecting citizens with quality mental outpatient health care that can also accept the insurance of the patient. Therefore, RCWC teamed up with local mental healthcare providers and trained counselors to create an affordable ‘destination for healing,’ where all patients can be connected to quality therapy.

Nicole and Dionne began their journey in 2016, when they met with mentors through the Maryland Innovation Center (formerly known as the Maryland Center for Entrepreneurship) to bring their vision to life. Co-Founder Nichole DeChirico notes, “the Maryland Innovation Center gave us the confidence to move forward and start pursuing our dreams by providing us guidance and business support.”

Since their launch in 2016, RCWC has added 28 jobs to their workforce. Also, their team recently expanded their services by launching a Maternal Health component to their practice, where their team of clinicians work closely with expecting parents to identify ways to better mentally prepare parents for child rearing. The RCWC team also supports first responders with their various challenges regarding mental health in the community and improving response efforts to those in need.
