Vheda Health’s National Growth Fuels Expansion into Larger Facility

Thursday, August 10, 2017

In response to the continued growth of Maryland Center for Entrepreneurship (MCE) resident Vheda Health, the company has moved into a new larger space in Columbia.

“With a focus on national expansion, it was imperative we identify a new headquarters that could sufficiently accommodate this growth. We can now scale and support our partners the right way. Our platform currently reaches 12 million lives nationally. By early 2018, we expect this reach will double.” says Shameet Luhar, CEO of Vheda Health.

Vheda Health’s mobile care management platform saves an average of $17,175 per member per year. Moreover, Vheda Health’s technology has proven to decrease hospitalizations up to 71% by automating care plan strategies for care managers and guided mobile tools for remote and self-monitoring activity. There is no imposed cost upon their members, as the company contracts directly with their partners – Medicaid and Medicare health insurance companies.

“We are proud of Vheda Health not only for its accomplishments, but for the company’s dedication to improving the lives of the underserved. We hope to see Vheda Health expand even more in the next few years and hope the company has great success in its new location,” said County Executive Allan H. Kittleman.

Vheda Health’s journey began at the Maryland Center for Entrepreneurship on Bendix Road in 2013. The Maryland Center for Entrepreneurship is a 23,000-square foot incubator in Columbia, Maryland run by the Howard County Economic Development Authority that hosts 26 residents and 30 affiliate companies. The incubator is dedicated to helping people take their ideas and transform them into established thriving companies.

“Howard County breeds great thinkers and innovators, and Vheda Health is a prime example of that,” said Lawrence Twele, Chief Executive of the Howard County Economic Development Authority. “They have been successful in growing their business into an established and thriving company, which is the core focus of the Maryland Center for Entrepreneurship. We look forward to seeing them continue to thrive here in the Howard County business community for years to come.”

Vheda Health’s new expanded space is located at 8325 Guilford Road in Columbia, as of July 2017. This larger space enables the company to meet the needs of its organically growing user-base, while providing a space to accommodate a larger workforce and operational needs. They have been providing services to health insurers for over half a decade and this reflects their unmatched expertise within healthcare IT.

“Not only are we making it more efficient saving health plans millions of dollars, but we are ultimately able to save more lives, and that is our ultimate goal” says VHEDA Chief Growth Officer Brad Marks. “Not only is healthcare coverage costly, the access and delivery can also be the difference between life and death. Increased smartphone adoption and biometric device capabilities in recent years have also assisted in our rapid growth as we grow product functionality and simplicity across the health care continuum.”

Vheda Health currently employs 25 people across two continents, but started their journey in the MCE with two.
